Comprehensive Plan Considered for Early Intervention

May 05, 2008

The Center for Health Policy, in partnership with the Indianapolis/Marion County City-County Council and the Early Intervention Planning Council (EIPC) is developing a comprehensive plan for early intervention and prevention services tailored to the needs of youth in Marion County. Five reports have been submitted to the Council and are available on the CHP web site,
Most recently, a fiscal report provided an overview of current funding sources and spending levels for child welfare in Marion County. This report offers a snapshot of current child welfare related expenditures and revenue sources. These data afford the EIPC a benchmark as they proceed with strategic planning and consider the implementation of new programs.
In addition, the CHP convened a meeting of representatives from the four major community mental health centers in Marion County to share their concerns and the obstacles faced in providing youth mental health services. The key concerns revealed in this meeting have been complied in a report for the EIPC to assess as they consider future action.
Currently, the CHP is conducting a survey of agencies and programs in Marion County that provide services to youth to better assess the county capacity to provide prevention and early intervention services.
