Student Centered ECHO

This ECHO program is for university students studying in health professions throughout Indiana. 

Each session includes an informative didactic presentation and a deep dive into an interactive case-based discussion on the practical applications in patient care. All sessions meet virtually via Zoom and are approximately two hours in length. The sessions allow students to learn new knowledge, hone skills, and collaborate across professions around topics related to serving the LGBTQIA+ community and its unique social determinants of health. The content covered will help inform and empower students in their future professional experiences. 

Sharing lived experiences is a powerful part of this ECHO initiative. Our partners at Cultivating a Belonging Culture (CABC) provide evidence-based information to students participating in the program and rooted in authentic stories from the community.

Partnership

The Student-Centered ECHO is developed and facilitated for health and social care learners centered around the LGBTQIA+ community in partnership between the following institutions:

• Cultivating a Belonging Culture (CABC),
• Indiana University Indianapolis ECHO Center at the Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health,
• Indiana University Interprofessional Practice and Education Center (IU IPE Center),
• Purdue College of Health and Human Sciences: Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, and
• Purdue School of Pharmacy.

The program is generously funded by the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI) Trailblazer Award.

Past partner organizations include the IU School of Dentistry with funding support from the CareQuest Grant.
